Prison To Peace Project
The aim of this project is to increase the re-integration of politically motivated ex-prisoners into society on a regional basis, while recognizing the fact that the various ex-prisoner groups and constituencies will still face different opportunities and challenges. Consequently the project will work with the collective range of ex-prisoner groups, in both loyalist and republican constituencies, on three specific themes:
a) Conflict Transformation & Peacebuilding – Learning from Experience: The distilling of experience to share it with other societies both in/and emerging from, conflict;
b) Citizenship Development – drawing on the experience of both loyalist and republican ex-prisoners to develop materials that can be used for citizenship curricula for young people across the region, with specific emphasis on anti-sectarianism, anti-racism and alternative approaches and strategies to violence;
c) Social Change Leadership – engaging ex-prisoners in training and facilitation around community development, youth leadership and an understanding of policy issues relating to peacebuilding at both local and regional levels.
